The Fourth Amendment protects individuals against unlawful searches and seizures.
The Exclusionary Rule to the Fourth Amendment says that evidence is excluded from prosecution when it is obtained as a result of an illegal search or coerced confession.
(Exclusion is not an available remedy for violations of the knock and announce rule in the execution of a search warrant. Evidence obtained after failing to knock and announce is not excludable.)
