There are three types of manslaughter to know for the MBE: Manslaughter carries with it less culpability than murder.
- VOLUNTARY manslaughter = Killing + heat of passion + provocation + no cooling off time + D did not cool off. ("VomP")
- INVOLUNTARY manslaughter = killing due to reckless or criminal negligence (a/k/a criminally negligent homicide).
- Recklessness - wanton disregard for the known dangers of a particular situation.
- MISDEMEANOR manslaughter = a killing while committing a misdemeanor (a lesser version of felony murder)
